After about a two month break from taking Japanese Classes in Japan, my second session, LEVEL 2 Classes started this week.
My classes are twice a week for 12 weeks and are part of the City of Shibuya effort to support its residences. https://www.city.shibuya.tokyo.jp/kurashi/gaikoku-info/gaikoku-info/nihongo_school.html
My LEVEL 1 Class prepared and provided me with the basic understanding to read and write Hiragana. I will admit that for me it was the VERY basic and simplest element of learning Japanese and I me it really was the basics. I struggled trying to keep up with being back in a classroom setting after being away from the educational process for a long time. It is a constant effort to continue to study, listen and practice.
So to say the least I was nervous but happy to get back to class. Many of my fellow classmates from LEVEL 1 are continuing with me so it was comfortable to be around familiar faces. In LEVEL 2, I will be learning to write Katakana as well as continuing to expand my vocabulary and concentration of learning sentence structure for proper communications.
This first week was just getting back into it, with self introductions and a review of Hiragana and the start of learning Katakana.
I’m looking forward to someday being able to not have to say, “sorry I dont understand Japanese” “sumimasen, nihongo wakarimasen” すみません にほんご わかりません,
For now, if you have friends, relatives, mom, dad, or grandparents that can speak Japanese, start conversing in Japanese now. Don’t wait like me.
